Rebecca Donovan was missing intimacy, but no matter how much she longed for a man to warm her bed and heart, she would not give Charlie a second chance. Charlie Cole was missing Rebecca Donovan, yet his pride wouldn't allow him to beg. It took one life changing night to bring the two back together and this time neither was prepared to let the other go.

My Review

Saving Ella, (Book 1 in the Mercy Angels Series) was one of my favourite books last year Read my Review Here
Jax and Ella are seriously one of my Favourite couples! I was super excited to get my hands on Fighting Back. I love Kristy's writing style, she is becoming one of my all time fave Authors FAST. Her work with Breeze Of Life, rocked my world.
I really wanted to give this a full 5 stars, but settled on 4. As much as I love Betty Boop Becca and Caveman Cole, I still am completely taken with Jax an Ella. Those two... Swoon! Their interactions in Fighting Back had me wanting to go back and re-read their story.

When independent, strong, an unique Rebecca Donovon is attacked in her own home one night, her perfectly accustomed life is turned up side down. Waking up with a man in her bedroom, Rebecca is able to fight off her attacker, not before he manages to bang her up and threaten to return.
Mercy is called in to the scene to help Rebecca deal. However with her best friend, Ella, away for the week, Mercy calls in Charlie Cole  to help her.

I sat on the bathroom floor and felt myself break into a million pieces. The horror of what had happened to me bled deep into my soul and I cried so hard, I though I was going to be sick.

A year ago, Rebecca and Charlie spent one hell of a night together, but with one small misunderstanding they let their stubbornness push each other away, avoiding each other at all costs. However when Rebecca is attacked, Charlie's feelings are bought forward and so is his protectiveness over the one woman who has meant more than anything. Seeing her broken, he vows to protect her at all costs.

There was a time when such things would have sent me running for the hills, but not anymore, not with Rebecca. I'd endure anything for this girl, I'd take her pain, her nightmares, and her fears in a heartbeat. If only it were that easy.

Independence was something that Rebecca was accustomed to, after the attack she finds herself struggling with fear and anger. But Charlie is there every step of the way. Cole is a truly good man.
He makes it his mission to bring the old Rebecca back.

"If you run, Rebecca, I will follow you. If you refuse to take my calls, I will end up on your doorstep and I will demand you hear me out. I won't make the mistake of letting you go again."

Their relationship was not rushed, he was patient and let Rebecca take the lead. Being around Charlie made her want to forget. She trusted him with the task of making her forget. Charlie was so sweet and gentle, you absolutely will swoon over him.

"I want this Charlie, I need you." One of his hands left my waist to slide down between my thighs. As his lips took possession of mine, his hand took possession of me more intimately. I found myself shamelessly riding his hand, and I didn't care how brazen my body had become. Charlie had that effect on me. I found myself comfortable with him, open and willing to be whatever it was that he needed me to be, to take whatever it was I needed from him.

With Rebecca, coming back to herself, it seems the attack is not all she has to worry about, with strange things happening around them, it leaves you wondering, was Rebecca's attack a one off? Or are there other forces at hand....

This series is a showcase of the amazing cast of secondary characters with heartbreaking issues of their own. From Jax and Ella, Mercy and Dave (who are soo super cute) to Lola, who at times is strange but has a sense of sadness surrounding her. And lets not forget Rebecca's sister Emily. There is a list of painful stories yet to be told. Rebecca and Charlie's story had the perfect amount of sweet yet sexy moments that allows you to get to know these amazing characters. I'm eagerly anticipating the next book in this series and the undoubtedly intense read it promises to be.
 P.s Braiden is mine!

About the Author

I'm just a little Aussie girl with a big imagination, so much to write and so little time to do it. When I'm not writing (or reading) I am kept smiling and sane (for the most part) by my 5 year old daughter. She is the light in my world. I have a wonderfully supportive family who keep me completely grounded. Trust me, they will never let any success go to my head!! And I love them for it. I enjoy ice cold ciders, barbeques, music and art. I hate cooking, in fact I think I have major kitchen allergies. My feet rarely grace anything other than flip-flops and even in the middle of a hot Aussie summer, I love my jeans!!! To sum me up in a few words (and you know how hard just a few words is for an author) ~ easy going, laid back, dreamy and passionate. I hope you all love reading my novels as much as I love writing them.

Excerpt

I grabbed my purse and headed outside to go and buy lunch. J was on the phone, but saw me come outside and signalled for me to wait.

“I’m going to buy lunch, J. And I only get an hour so I don’t have time to wait for you,” I said, tersely. He kept talking and scowled at me. I turned and started to walk away from him, towards the cafe where I always bought lunch.

I could hear him muttering something into the phone and then he must have ended his call because he went silent. Then, he barked, “Madison!”

The last thing I wanted to do was stop for him, but there was something in his tone; a ‘don’t fuck with me’ command. So I stopped, and turned around to look at him. Oh, my. He was shitty.

He stalked to where I was and got in my face. “Why the fuck do you have to be so difficult about this?” He was fuming.

Well, I could see him, and raise him in his anger. “Maybe it has something to do with the way Scott has gone about this. And the fact that he sent you!”

He flinched. It was only for a second, and most people wouldn’t have even noticed it. But I knew J, and I saw it. It surprised the fuck out of me. “Well then, it looks like we’ve got some shit to sort out, babe, because I’m not going anywhere.”

“I don’t want to sort shit out with you. That ship sailed two fucking years ago, J,” I spat.

He gripped my arm, pulling me closer, “No, it fucking didn’t,” he growled, eyes blazing, “And you can’t deny there’s still something here. I feel it and I know you feel it too.”

I laughed. No, actually, I cackled. “You wanna fuck, J? I can feel that, and, yeah, if you wanna go there, I’m all for it. But don’t mistake my desire for your cock for anything else.”

Synopsis

***Recommended for ages 18+ due to mature situations, sexual content and language***

New Adult Contemporary

However, after an unexpected event, Evangeline reluctantly finds herself back in New York City.

Since the accident, Evangeline has feared the media attention that comes with having the Montgomery name, and would give everything up to bring back her loved ones. Delicate and camera shy, the last person she needs in her life is New York Yankees hotshot, Ryan Fox.

Witty and extremely arrogant, the notorious bad boy is well-versed at playing the game both on and off the field. Ryan isn't fazed by the media circus following his every move and couldn't be anymore different to the quiet, shy girl that is Evangeline. Everything about him screams trouble with a capital T, but it’s away from the cameras that Evangeline begins to see the real man hiding behind the cocky façade— one that is haunted by a dark and terrible secret.

Life led them to one another, but will further events and opening up about their past bring them closer, or tear them apart and have them sliding into darkness all over again?

My Review

12 years ago Evangeline's life was ripped apart when a car accident killed her Mother and Brother. While her father completely checks out, he sends her and and remaining brother to live with her Grandparents. For 12 years her Father ignores her. Untill, dying on his death bed, he summons her home to New York.
With only hurt and anger in her heart, Evangeline puts off going to see him. Instead heads out for her first night in NYC.

With an intense fear of Publicity, Evangeline has always shied away from the public eye. That's until she catches the eye of New York Yankee Hotshot, Ryan Fox.
Ryan is everything Evangeline is not. While she is extremely attracted to him, she really isn't interested in a relationship. After some really Hot Sex, Evangeline takes it for what it is. Sex. But Ryan doesn't seem to take the hint. With his cocky attitude and cheekiness, he really is hard to say no to.

Ryan doesn't do relationships but something about Evangeline makes him think he can.
With a horrible past himself. With the fear that Evangeline would leave if she knew they truth, Ryan struggles with letting her in.

"If things were different, if they were easier and I wasn't afraid of possibly losing you forever, I'd share the rest of me. I'd give you everything and do anything you want of me..."

When the truth comes out, they both soon realise their pasts are not so different.
With life blissfully happy, one mistake comes back and threatens everything Ryan and Evangeline have worked so hard for. Can they overcome it or will it be too late?

Slide was a delightfully entertaining story with your typical gorgeous, rich, unable-to-commit Hero. But what makes it different was being able to witness Ryan's struggle. Being in his head we were able to see how he really was feeling. He really wanted to be everything he could be for Evangeline. The scene at his home, really was just heartbreaking. But most of all, his cheekiness was loveable. His arrogance was loveable. His sweetness was lovable. I just loved him!

"It's impossible to be invisible, Evangeline. Everything about you just wants to shine. You're a burning star fighting against the darkness of shadows. Even I can see that."

Even though Evangeline had to deal with a horrible situation she still was quite a strong Heroine. I love her Bestie, hahahahha they were soo funny together! I felt her relationship with her brother was healthy and loved that there were no dramas with his feeling toward Ryan.

All the characters were loveable and realistic. I LOVED Ryan's Sister Annie... Such a romantic hahahha

"I'm dying. I'm literally dying of how romantic this is!"

And the Sex... Oh God the sex was smoking hot.....

I grabbed his head to try and balance but he nudged me backwards, holding me in place by my thighs. I tensed at the sudden cold sensation against my back. He had me pressed up against the frosted glass wall. The sense of danger thrilled me... I let out a breathless moan that turned into a cry when I felt his finger go in. His tongue moved to pleasure my clit, while his finger, followed by another, slipped in and out with quick movements.

Michelle ends it all with an awesome Epilogue.. Sigh I love me a good Epilogue. And Michelle does not disappoint!
His speech... swoon!  I can't wait for Ryan's POV and more from this fabulous Author.
Michelle's writing  easily drew me in, the instant connection with Ryan had me craving for more of his and Evangeline's banter. Overall Slide exceeded my expectations and left me wanting to read more. Bravo Michelle.

My Review

~ Respect exists only on the basis of freedom, for love is the child of freedom, never that of domination ~

Living in an abusive relationship and unable to see the signs, is exactly what Viv's current situation is. When her Brother's best friend comes home from Iraq he sees the signs and is able to make Viv see what she is unable to. With his own history of abuse growing up, Brody wants nothing more than to see the old Viv. The Viv that he can't get out of his mind. Slowly and tenderly he is able to bring Viv back.

You may not realize this, but you're doubting yourself more and more each day.
You are loosing yourself. You are losing your voice.

When Viv finds herself coming to terms with what her relationship with her Ex has left her. She decides to make a sex bucket list. When Brody finds it, she convinces him to help her accomplish it.

"I want tonight to be only about your pleasure," He said, already breaking away from my mouth to kiss a slow trail down my throat, to the hollow at its base. "I want you to know it should feel like to have a man make love to you."

But soon things become complicated. They have no control over their feelings, and Viv and Brody soon find themselves in much further than either of them thought possible.

I wondered how I could ever have loved anyone else in my life
Not only was Viv beautifully profound, she was profoundly beautiful.

And In that moment, I knew. The list, it didn't matter anymore. What we had between us was bigger than the list. It was more than just sex. It was so much more

But where does that leave them when Brody is about to head back into duty? Will their few short weeks be able to handle the distance?

I really enjoyed this. It was so much more than what I was expected.
When you meet Viv you really do feel for her situation. But as she moves forward, her wit and humour shines through. I loved Brody. You really do feel his attraction to Viv even before the list was introduced. The Sex was soooo hot!
The scene when her watches her in front of the mirror...... SMOKING
I can't wait for the next instalment!  I need it now!

Unable to meet his gaze, I picked up my fork and pushed the food around the plate in a circle. “He accused me of sleeping with you.” I inhaled sharply. “And he called me frigid again.” I paused and took a swig of wine to cover my distress. “Sometimes I can’t help but wonder …  if I wasn’t so frigid in bed, he wouldn’t have needed to find it elsewhere.”
I heard Liam exhale. “Don’t do that, Viv.”
As I fiddled with the stem of the wineglass, I forced myself to meet his gaze. “Do what?”
“Doubt yourself. Blame yourself. Don’t do that.” His voice was nothing but kind. There was no hint of condescension in it.
I tried to speak, failed, so I drank some more wine.
“Listen.” Liam set his fork on the table. “If a girl is frigid, it is usually because the way she is treated outside of bed has left her frigid.”
“But there has to be something wrong with me. I mean, what twenty-two-year-old has never experienced the Big O? You know, I can be a little uptight, even high-strung at times. So really, it could just be me.”
“It’s not you,” Liam said firmly. “Don’t let Brody mess with your head. Do you know that about ten percent of women have never experienced an orgasm? And most women aren’t able to climax with intercourse alone. They need other sorts of …” He paused, seemingly to search for the word. “Stimulation.”
The word made a blush rise on my neck and throat.
Liam leaned back in his chair and regarded me steadily. “And from what it sounds like, Brody is a fucking moron. No guy should ever expect you to function with the predictability of a machine. And if he does, then he should just have sex with his car.”
I smothered a giggle. “So I take it you’ve had plenty of experience helping girls reach the pinnacle of sexual passion.”
His lips turned upward in a semi-grin. “Not really.”
“C’mon,” I teased, swirling the wine in my glass. “What about all those Jessicas you dated? Jessica Neal, Jessica Cena, Jessica Long, Jessica Alba?”
He let out a dismissive laugh. “I never dated Jessica Alba.”
As I forked a mouthful of ravioli, I pointed out, “You had the biggest crush on her, though.”
He didn’t deny it. “Me and every other guy I knew.”
I arched an eyebrow. “So did you love all the other Jessicas?”
He shrugged. “Truthfully, I don’t think I even knew what love was back then.”
I eyed him curiously. “Do you know now?”
He shoveled in a bite, chewed then swallowed. “I think I may have some idea.”
I leaned back in my chair and ran a fingertip around the rim of my wineglass. “What do you think love should feel like? Fireworks? Crazy intense, mad passion?”
The look he gave me was long and considering. He lifted his glass and took a swig before answering. “I think a slow burning candle produces more warmth and light than a brief explosion.”
We stared at each other as his words hung in the air between us. “With Brody …” I spoke into the silence. “It was crazy intense. I met him in college my freshman year. And right from the start, we had instant fireworks … the brief explosions you were just talking about. He pretty much swept me off my feet, and I kind of jumped off the diving board into the deep end.”
Liam had a deep and intent expression on his face as he listened to me.
His eyes were open and accepting. Nonjudgmental.
When I finished, he grew quiet for a moment. Then he said, “I think the idea that love must be crazy intense all the time is what keeps people from being satisfied with the normal, boring day-to-day love. The sort of quiet love that is tucked away in the corner instead of shouted from the rooftops. That kind of simple day-to-day love … that quiet love, it might seem dull to others. But for me—” He gave a short shrug— “that’s love.”

Synopsis

Diagnosis: Sleep-running
Treatment: Truth
Prognosis: Beautifully Awake

Lili Porter hates the rain. Bad things happen in the rain. As a small town social worker dedicated to protecting children, she is forced to start over to escape her rural disaster. Determined to follow her father’s advice—head up and chin high—Lili finds herself in a new city, taking on a new system, this time healthcare. In doing so, she gets something she never expected, an intimate behind-the-scenes look at life in the hospital.

Lili learns that a surgeon’s hands have the power to heal more than physical wounds. And a prescription for truth can cure three years of sleep running and leave you beautifully awake.

My Review

Finally I reached out and bruised the hair from those familiar eyes, the mirror reflection of my own. You were awake. Your eyes were open. But the light was gone. There was nothing but darkness. Three years of complete emptiness.

It was time to close your eyes.

TRUTH...

The best feeling ever, finding a new Author, in this case, Authors. Falling absolutely in love with their writing and then having the pleasure to tell you all about this wonderful story.

Lili Porter is Sleep Running...

It's Lili's safe haven. Her time to heal. For the last three years Lili has been drifting, emotionless and colourless. Terrified of waking up to life and running away from a past to protect herself at all costs. Until Dr Chase Colton crushes her walls and makes her feel safe again, introducing her to honest Intimacy, Truth and Love.

Dr Chase Colton, Chief or Neurosurgery at Philadelphia Hospital.
Dr Sexy. Dr Compassionate. Dr Jackass. Dr Affectionate. Dr Dreamy. Dr Bossy. Dr Stubborn. Dr Possessive. Dr Sweet. You name it.

Lili is a case worker at the same hospital and finds herself on rotation with the new head of Surgery.
After a few rough starts, Chase and Lili, can't keep away from each other. Dr Intensity has a power over her. She accepts it as what it is, knowing the man has the ability to possibly awaken her but can also break her down.

Chase has his own deep dark secrets that leaves you intrigued to know why Dr Mystery is the way he is. He runs hot and cold. Hard and soft. But there is no denying the steaming chemistry between them.

"You come first, or we come together…. Understand?" It wasn't a question. It was an order. And probably the sexiest thing I ever hear. "Answer me, Blue." The heat from his breath against my sex almost sent me over the edge.

My lips released him just long enough to pant, "Understand."

They were on fire. Holy shit the sex was freaking OFF the Charts. Chase is Bossy and Dominate but in a soft sexy way.

I broke our kiss, unable to stop my cry. My head fell back with the sudden intrusion, and I was rocked deep to my core. This felt good. "Blue, you're so wet for me. So tight. I want to be inside you so bad."

As their relationship progresses, Lili's past comes out and leaves you hurting for the poor girl. With all her truths out, her biggest fear of losing Chase from it all comes crashing true. Chase is still a mystery, he leaves you craving for the truth. His past is so dark, you really can't guess it. But when the mystery of his darkness comes to light… Let me just safe, FUCK! Heart and soul breaking.

It's like you think you know where it's going, where it could possibly go, but what you get is a big kick in the gut, the wind knocked out of you and you're hopeless to the pain he holds on to.

Can they both find their light? Will each other be enough for what they each need? Will Chase find his Truth?

I didn't want to run away from any more of my life. I just wanted to feel. If that meant not always feeling happy, not always feeling comfortable, if it meant suffering through times of sadness and headache, then I was in. I wanted all in. If love was my only constant, then nothing else mattered.

This was Brilliant. It had everything you could ever want.

A fun sassy best friend.

"Fine you're no fun, but if the are any hotties on your team this month, I'm gonna want details. Your eyes still work, right? Even if you vagina's sealed shut by now."

A Tortured hero, who at time seriously melted my heart.

"And I told you, baby, you never have to thank me. I would feed your entire family every meal for the next twenty years to see that smile on your face."

Then there were the sexy, oh god it's so hot in here moments…. The shower scene.. HOTTEST SCENE ever! That shit is hot. TRUTH

He wrapped his fingers around his hard shaft and squeezed. My mouth went dry; any and all moisture drenched my thong. "My girl likes to watch?" He stroked his cock, with more force than I ever imagined using. It was the hottest moment Ever.

A funny as all hell, not at all annoying, strong an amazing Heroine.

This was part of the movie where you pushed stop or fast-forward, because it was just that embarrassing it made you stomach hurt. Pull. It. Together. There was only one possible explanation: I was having a full-out stroke.

With an amazing cast of Dr's, Nurses and Interns…. It was your favourite romance, with the hottest sexy times, sizzling chemistry and fun, hilarious banter mixed in with an episode of Grey's Anatomy all in one!

Freaking LOVE the Cover! First thing I thought when I found this.

I loved Loved loved that he called her Blue, love awesome nicknames. TOTAL Swoon right there.
I loved Ash. Seriously that man needs his own book. STAT
I loved the medical talk, the scenes, everything. I haven't read anything like it. It was refreshing to have it set in that background.
I loved their Truths. It was real and raw and heartbreaking but so beautiful.
I loved the mystery. The suspense. My chest was pounding the last 10% of the book! INTENSE!

You must grab this one ASAP. You will not want to miss this one.

Riley Mackenzie are 2 best friend Authors that have done a brilliant job on their Debut. Can not fault one thing. Bravo Ladies, You rock!

About the Author

Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us!

We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.
It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.
So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.
Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?
Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.

So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

Excerpt

The silk shirt clung to his back like a second skin, accentuating the wide shoulders and narrow waist. Hair the color of spun gold just brushed the collar of the shirt. I don’t go for blonds either, but Jesus...  He was like a gorgeous mountain standing in the back room.
I could feel him.  He had an aura or something. I still don’t understand what kind of pulse he was throwing off, but he was a physical presence inside me.  Even Asher hadn’t had that strong of an effect on me.
I sucked in air as he turned around. My gaze focused on the center of his chest, past the four or five buttons that were undone, to the expanse of delicious skin beneath, then I lifted it to look into the most compelling pair of Nordic blue eyes I’d ever seen. My very own, personal Viking god.
He smiled.  My heart stopped; my lungs turned to stone.  I heard Marybeth ask, “Chelsea? Are you okay?”
When she hit me on the arm, it caused a stupid smile to break out on my face. “Hi!” I chirped.  Doh!
She frowned at me then gestured at him.  “This is Tage Sorenson.  He’s been hired to manage Tapestries. It’s his first day here, so I hope you’ll all take it easy on him.”

Author Bio

Though I write contemporary romance under the name Shari Copell, my real name is Sherry Jesberger.  I write a historical fantasy/paranormal romance series under the name S.L. Jesberger.
I am an eleventh generation native of Pennsylvania.  My husband Gordon and I raised three lovely daughters, one of whom designs my book covers. Another daughter drew the map in the front cover of my historical fantasy series.
I’ve always had stories swirling through my head. Crazy stuff, totally whack situations. I was a voracious reader as a child, choosing to escape into the world of books. I wrote stories when I was a teen, but quit as I grew up. (Keep in mind, there were no computers then. Writing a book or story consisted of a brand-new notebook and a ballpoint pen.) I found some of these early stories as I cleaned out my grandmother’s house after she passed. Unfortunately, I threw them away.
I started writing again in 2012 after my husband lost his job. Aislin of Arianrhod was published in October of that year. I immediately began to work on the second book in the series, Winter’s Child.
Sometime in the middle of writing Winter’s Child, I had the inexplicable urge to swear like sailor, use modern vernacular, and write steamy sex scenes. I was amused and tried to push it aside. The language in a historical fantasy is obviously much different from a contemporary romance, so I had to behave myself.
I finally just thought, fuck it. I’ll do it.  It was during that time that I started to write “Micah’s Island.” I simply needed to purge the wild story that had taken over my brain by then. It was so much fun to write.  What would happen if you met a man who had never seen a grown woman before?
I chose the pen name Shari Copell because Micah’s Island was so very different from the Àlainnshire series. Copella was my grandmother’s maiden name—I just dropped the A.
For the most part, people seemed to like Micah, though he was a man of few words.  I got some nice (and not so nice) emails about it, mostly from people wanting a better ending. I promptly wrote them one.
I wasn’t sure I would ever write another contemporary romance until Rock’n Tapestries dropped into my head, nearly complete from beginning to end (though I did run some things past Tara Chevrestt, who edits for me. Her suggestions were invaluable.)  You just have to indulge your muse when that happens, as it doesn’t happen often.
Though the names and situations have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent, some of the things in Rock’n Tapestries were things that actually happened to me.  My husband was wearing a bass guitar the first time I ever laid eyes on him. As Chelsea says of Tage, “ I think I might’ve had to scoop my jaw off the floor.”  He’s the skinny dude in the gray tank top and orange guitar on the far right in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lXGyaHNWRI
I hope you’ve enjoyed Rock’n Tapestries. I’m currently having a blast working on a book about Nicks Sorenson, Asher’s daughter. I love this girl! It should be out sometime in 2014.
In the meantime, rock on!
