I Stand Before You (Judge Me Not, #1)

Synopsis

When it comes to tattooed bad boys, Chase Gartner is the real deal. Partying, engaging in meaningless sex, getting into fights---Chase indulges in it all during his late teen years, thus firmly solidifying his status as a heartbreakingly gorgeous but way-too dangerous-to-trust guy in his hometown of Harmony Creek, Ohio. Then, following one fateful night of reckless decisions, Chase's actions finally catch up to him and land him in prison.

Now, four years have passed and Chase finds himself a free man. He returns to Harmony Creek, ready to pick up the pieces and start rebuilding his shattered life.

Things are off to a promising start when he meets Kay Stanton, a young woman with a tragic past of her own. Despite a powerful attraction, Chase and Kay are naturally hesitant to become involved. That's why friendship feels like the safest option. But when passions ignite and love blossoms, a relationship that is destined and meant to be can only be resisted for so long. When Chase and Kay finally succumb to their feelings they realize being together feels more right and true than anything they have ever experienced.

But their love is soon tested. Chase's wild past still haunts and tempts him, and Kay is keeping a secret that could tear them apart.

I Stand Before You is a journey of hope and forgiveness, coming to terms with the past and moving forward. But mostly it's a story of two damaged people who take a chance, open their hearts, and find true love.

New Adult/Contemporary Romance genres. First in a series.
***warning: contains graphic sexual situations, drug use, some violence, and profanity***

My Review

We first meet Chase! Super Hot, tatted bad boy and an drug addict. He uses drugs and alcohol to fill the void of his past. Chases troubles catch up with him and he ends up spending four years in prison. When Chase is released he goes back to his home town where all his troubles began. He is bound and determined to turn over a new leaf and stay clean. His only positive role model, his late grandmother, left him her home and property. Chase ends up getting a small maintenance job at his local church his grandmother attended.

Then we meet Kay! Sweet, good girl with a tragic past she secretly blames herself for.

She is estranged from her parents and really doesn't have anybody. She carries around so much guilt but she tries to mask from it.

Then one day Chase and Kay bump into each other. I mean Literally!!:) Kay has heard about Chase and his past and tells herself he is bad news! But once she gets to know him she starts feeling a connection with him and decides to give him a chance on being  friends. Little did she know her feelings for him were her falling in love with him and vice versa.

This story is about second chances and forgiveness. It's about 2 different people with 2 different troubled pasts finding their way to each other! There were some topics that this book touched which hits close to home for some people, but I think these things is what helps you to connect with a story. And this was their love story!

As for the storyline it was good! The connection between Chase and Kay was evident and they had some steamy sex scenes!;)

The only negative thing I can say is that I absolutely couldn't stand their nick names for each other! Ex: My Boy, My Girl, Baby girl, My Sweet Boy, My Sweet Girl!

It was too cheesy for me!! And they used them ALL the time!

Over all I enjoyed the book! If you love a story where good girl falls for bad boy then this is it!
