Synopsis

A matter of secrets...
Undercover cop Logan "Kash" Ryan can't afford a distraction like his new neighbor Rachel Masters, even if she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. To catch a serial killer, he needs to stay focused, yet all he can think about is the feisty, long-legged coed whose guarded nature intrigues him

A matter of lies...
Deceived and hurt before, Rachel would rather be a single, crazy cat lady than trust another guy, especially a gorgeous, tattooed bad boy with a Harley, like Kash. But when his liquid-steel eyes meet hers, it takes all of Rachel's will-power to stop herself from exploring his hot body with her own.

A matter of love...
As much as they try to keep it platonic, the friction between them sparks an irresistible heat that soon consumes them. Can Kash keep Rachel's heart and her life safe even as he risks his own? Will she be able to forgive his lies ... or will she run when she discovers the dangerous truth?

My Review

Molly McAdam's never disappoints me! I absolutely love her books! I get so wrapped up in them! This one was no different! I was hooked from beginning to end!

Rachel and her best friend Candice are finishing up there junior year in college at UT in Austin,TX.
They have been best friends for years and have been even closer since Rachel moved in with them in highschool after she lost her parents in a horrible plane crash. Candice and Rachel are definitely polar opposites though. Where Candice dates and hooks up with guys left and right. Rachel has only been with one guy she dated when starting college who ended up cheating on her. Candice starts hounding Rachel to go out and meet guys and hook up occasionally. Rachel is just humoured  by her best friend because Rachel is no way that type of girl. Candice gets a great idea and begs Rachel to give her cousin Blake a chance.
He has been asking Rachel out for several months and Rachel always turns him down. Although she knows her friends cousin very well and secretly was in love with him growing up she can only see how much of a man whore he is.  To get Candice off her back she agrees to go on a date with him.
Rachel realizes that Blake is not the same person he was years ago.

Kash and Mason are finishing up an undercover drug bust. When things don't go as planned their chief has them take a case in Austin,TX. They are to find and take down a serial killer.
Kash and Mason are best friends and have been partners and on the force for four years.
Neither are married and nor have a relationships because with there undercover jobs it's too risky and hard. They take their job seriously and they are ready to solve this case and return back home.
Little did they know the apartment they were moving in would be across from 2 girls that would change up their plans along the way!

Rachel and Kash characters were just as good together as they were individual.
Rachel was mature and strong especially dealing with the loss of her parents.
She was also feisty and smart mouthed and I think that's what made me love her even more!:)
Kash was as tattooed, pierced, bad boy with a touch of Alpha. But under all that he was smart, possesive and had a good heart. I loved his sense of humour and how he dealt with things. He was a smart ass as well. Mason was a hottie too but he was a womanizer. However I loved his character and his friendship with Rachel and how close him and Kash were.

"And I hate your tattoos."

"No you don't"

"And your lip ring and your eyes. And your hair, it drives me nuts. You really need to cut it. Or better yet, one morning you'll wake up and I will have shaved it off while you slept"

Kash and Rachel couldn't deny their attraction to one another but neither wanted to act on it because Rachel was fighting her own demons and Kash's knew he was their to do his job. Mase on the other hand didn't hesitate to hook up with Candice occasionally. I thought he was too good for Candice.
I didn't really connect a lot with her characters. She was kind of a b*$?&! Lol
you will know what I mean once you read the book) :)

Rachel and Kash's relationship was beautiful and intense from the start. I loved how they developed a friendship first and then it blossomed to so much more!
They were the perfect mix of romance, commitment, love, and erotica.
Although they have fallen in love and wouldn't hurt each other intentionally, they are both keeping secrets.
Kash doesn't put up with Rachel shielding him and finally breaks down her walls and she reveals her secret.

"Damn it Rachel. Im not kidding! I want to know what the fuck happened to you; you're done throwing up your damn shield with me!"

Kash's on the other hand knows he cant tell Rachel his secret because it would risk all their lives and he is all about protecting the ones he loves. He does promise himself and Mason to tell her everything once his case is solved and he knows everyone is safe. Mason loves Rachel too, but like a sister.
He has stayed on Kash that he needed to tell Rachel the truth.

"She knows me, Mase. She knows who I am. Maybe not my last name or actual profession, but who I am as a person? She knows me."

After unfortunate events happen everything just blows up in front of their faces. Rachel is heartbroken and feels betrayed and Kash is just as broken and feeling guilty thinking he was protecting her.
How do you move on from falling in love with someone to be told that person is not who they say they are???

"Go please." He started to speak, so I cut him off again. "Don't come back, Kash. I don't want to see or hear from you again."

This book does deal with a lot of tough issues and situations. However, the story moves at a steady pace and right when you think it ends you are left with a cliffhanger. I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. They are great because it leaves you anxious and anticipating for the next book. Its when you are so wrapped up in a book and it ends and you go to purchase the next book but it's not out yet or you have to wait forever for it! LOL

Kash is ready for it all with Rach. Especially if all includes having a football team of babies with his future wife. With his line of work, he knows how short life can be, and doesn't want to waste another minute of theirs. But now his past as an undercover narcotics agent has come back to haunt him ... and it's the girl he loves who's caught in the middle.

Trent Cruz's orders are clear: take the girl. But there's something about this girl that has him changing the rules and playing a dangerous game to keep her safe. When his time as Rachel's protector runs out, he will turn his back on the only life he's known, and risk everything, if it means getting her out alive.

About the Author

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughters. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies, fried pickles and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm ... or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.
