Synopsis

My Review
I have read some crazy dark reads lately and this one is to be added to the list.
Dimitri Sokolov (AKA The Beast) is a dangerous man from Moscow that is wanted. He is hiding from his ex mob boss Sergei. He is completely a recluse in his pent house and hasn't left it for 3 yrs. He has everything he needs in his suite. He hires professional escorts from oversea for his sadistic pleasure and never uses the same one twice and they must be blindfolded the entire time. Dimitri was a handsome,womanizer who was highly respected when he was in the mob. His boss thought Dimitri was turning on him so he thought he would kill him by burning him to death. Unfortunately for Dimitri he is left with the horrible scars and burn marks. He has a hard life since he was young. He doesn't trust anyone and is paranoid that Sergei is close to finding him and finishing the job. So every time he moves he uses a different allies.
Columbia Grey is a very quiet and awkward young lady. She lives at home with her mom, step-dad and sister. Her mom is never home and her step dad works all the time so she is left taking care of her sister.
She is of part of a activist group. The only reason she participates is to get her out of her house.
The group is having a debate because the neighborhood they live in is going to be destroyed and turned into some investment by a rich Texan, Jarred Jacobs. They have found out where the owner is staying and make a plan to have someone to sneak in his suite and confront him. When the the guy who was originally going to sneak in can't do it. Columbia volunteers herself to sneak in and confront the rich boy! Anything to get out of being at home when her step dad came home. Little did she know she would face a broken soul like her own with a dark past and her life would change so much in a short time!

The story was intriguing but then the next thing you know it jumped into fast gear and never slowed down. Columbia is held hostage by Dimitri and he is ugly to her and hits her. Columbia fights him and tries to escape. Dimitri then ties her up and blindfolds her till he figures out what he is going to do with her.
He tells her he owns her and she is her pet. He tells her he will take care of her and she will not need for anything. Then next thing you know they are falling in love with each other and she wants to stay with him forever. I know they both have dark past and they connected by that, but it just was missing something.
I just didn't feel the love connection when it came. It felt rushed and after that the story felt rushed and by the end of the book I couldn't believe Columbia was the same girl as she was by the end. She was a beast herself! I may sound confusing but that's kind of how I felt by the end. However, it was nice to see a sweet side of Dimitri. He really was a good guy but just so messed up from his past.
By the end I guess these two were more perfect for each than a I thought.:)

She would be his; there was no other option for her. She would follow him to the ends of the earth, the depths of hell, through fire and suffering just to be with him. She would never let him go.
Overall the story was good. I guess, I needed more depth or feel more of their connection.
If you are looking for a dark romance then you will enjoy it.
I must say it does contain abuse and some bdsm.
