Synopsis

Sloane

For over two years, Sloane Romera has pinned everything on finding Alexis. Life was going to get better. Easier. Happier. The nightmare of having a missing sister was supposed to end, and everything was supposed to go back to normal.

However, now that she’s found her sister, Sloane is discovering that life has a way of ridiculing what we expect of it.

Nothing is easier.

And ‘normal’ is falling for a man who might never be able to feel the same way.

Zeth

A lengthy history of breaking things with his fists has given Zeth Mayfair a fairly good idea of how to get his own way. But when his goal, the one, single woman on the face of the planet that he’s truly ever wanted, can only be obtained by fixing things instead of destroying them, how can he adjust a lifetime of violence in order to make her his once and for all? And how can he make sure that she is safe?

The first part is going to take time. But the second part…

The second part is easy.

He must kill Charlie Holsan.

My Review

Eeeeeekkkk!  Fallen was Amazing! I've always loved Zeth and his dark and dirty side but I literally swooned for Zeth in Fallen. Like big fat I can't wipe this stupid grin off my face swooned!  I knew Z had it in him and I could not be happier that he is finally letting his softer side show.

Seriously this series keeps getting better and better with each book. I love seeing how Zeth and Sloane's relationship unfolds throughout the series.  I would say this book concentrates more on their emotional connection instead of their physical connection.  Don't get me wrong, they are still super hot together and have a couple of very steamy sexy scenes that will leave you breathless and a little flustered.

"I have a little game in mind instead.  You wanna play?"

After finding Alexis, it is up to Sloane to give the good news to her parents.  She is still so angry and upset with her sister and even more so now that Alexis isn't taking on the responsibility of informing their parents that she is alive and well.  At least Zeth is there with her every step of the way...or maybe that's not such a good thing????

"I don't lie to anyone. I will certainly never lie to you, Sloane, but I will lie for you. Only you."

I have to say Zeth Mayfair... "meeting the parents" was pretty hilarious.  I absolutely loved it.  Sloane on the other hand cannot believe what she is witnessing...who is this imposter that has taken over her big brooty intimidating...whatever he is to her...  Her mom is practically swooning over him, her dad is practically treating him like part of the family.  It's all too much for Sloane and she needs to get out of there.

I could shoot him. Such an act of violence seems totally appropriate, and we find ourselves doing something entirely civilized instead... I sit around the kitchen table, and my mom pours Lady Grey for us all from an actual teapot like she's the goddamn queen of England.  Zeth Mayfair's gigantic hands somehow manage to navigate my parent's best wedding china without breaking a single thing or spilling a single drop and I feel like I just dropped acid.

This...this just can't be happening.

In Fallen, Sloane is battling with her feelings for Zeth.  She feels the intense connection towards him but this was all supposed to be fun.  No emotions were to be involved.  So why does the thought of returning home scare her so much?

I've been drawn to him for the sex. I've been drawn to him for the power he exudes. Hell, I've been drawn to him for his arrogance and his sheer cockiness, which is infuriatingly attractive. I know in my heart I could easily have walked away from all of those things, though.  It would have sucked, but I could have done it.  But the weaker side to this man, who seems so indestructible, is the reason why I've felt myself sliding down some frightening , unnamable slope. And yes, I'm the ultimate coward because that slope does have a name; I'm just too terrified to acknowledge my descent.

Both Zeth and Sloane are trying to figure out what to do with the feelings they have towards each other and now that Alexis has been found, what else do they have to tie them together?  I love how honest Zeth is in this book. He knows what he wants and he is hoping like hell Alexis will want the same thing.  He cannot let her go.

"Okay. Fine. So this is it, huh?  This is the part where we lay our cards on the table?"
Zeth shrugs.
"Only if you understand. Only if you can stop fucking pretending for five minutes and just be honest with me."

Returning home, Sloane just wants life to return to her normal boring routine.  But new threats looming, it doesn't look like that will be a possibility, at least not anytime soon.
I don't want to give anything away in the storyline. One thing I love about Callie's books is experiencing every twist and turn for itself. But know this. Be prepared for it. Zeth and Sloane have old trouble and new trouble all mixing together...trying to tear them apart. Nothing can ever be easy for the two of them.
Sloane finds herself making choices she never thought she would make and they will have ever lasting consequences on her life and her future.  Zeth will do anything, absolutely anything to protect Sloane, even if that means putting his own life at risk.

I've railed against it, and I've fought and denied it, but there was little point in even trying. I've fallen for this reckless, dangerous, terrifying soul, and now that I've realized it, I'm not ready to give it up.

The last half of this book was utterly mind boggling and completely enthralling. I could not put it down and I was torn between reading fast and going slow because I didn't want it to end but I needed to know what was going to happen.

Thank you Callie Hart for another amazing book in the Blood and Roses series.  Definitely one of my favorite reads of the year so far!  I cannot wait for more Zeth and Sloane and to see what else Callie has up her sleeve for us this year ;)
