Synopsis

Lindsay Wilson has spent her entire life protecting her five younger siblings. At eighteen, she knew the man she’d devote her life to, but when he left her, her passion dimmed. Engrossing herself in her small business and jumping from guy to guy could only distract her for so long.

Finn Jacobs chose his dream of playing professional hockey over the girl he loved. Year after year he competed, throwing himself into the game. After an injury that could end his career for good, he begins to question his decision all those years ago.

Six years later, Lindsay and Finn’s paths cross yet again. The reunion is less than ideal, both unhappy and unfulfilled in their personal lives. Lindsay’s barriers begin to crumble as Finn discovers she’s not the same girl he left behind. They try to avoid each other, but sometimes life forces you to face your past mistakes to make them right. Can their love survive a second chance?

In this inspiring tale of true love and loss, Finn and Lindsay discover each other and find their forever.

My Review

For the Love of Hockey follows Lindsey, Luke's sister from For the Love of Ash, and Luke's best friend and professional hockey player, Finn. With years of distrust and anger, Lindsey will not forgive Finn for breaking her heart. Blindsided by Lindsey's long held anger, Finn is left to try and pick up the pieces of a life he left behind with good intentions.

Lindsey has spent the last six years pushing back the heartbreak that Finn left in his wake. After making plans for the future to follow Finn to Canada so he can do what he's always wanted to do-play hockey-he breaks up with her the day he leaves. Lindsey has done everything she can for the last few years to ignore Finn. But when her brother gets engaged, that becomes impossible.

Finn only left Lindsey because he thought he was doing the right thing. He didn't want Lindsey to regret leaving her family behind when she had been taking care of all of her younger siblings since she was a teenager. Having an abusive father and alcoholic mother, Lindsey took charge early on and Finn realized that their lives were taking two directions. Breaking up with her was only supposed to let Lindsey feel free to live her life and move on. But after six years of silence, he finds a very different Lindsey.

Thrown together at every turn, Lindsey and Finn have to overcome their past before they build a future. Trying to hide her hurt and protect her siblings, being in close proximity to Finn is the last thing she's ready for. When Finn begins to pursue a relationship with Lindsey again, she isn't sure if she can open her heart for the chance of true love when the chance for more heartbreak is possible.

After reading about Lindsey in For the Love of Ash, I was excited to see the "mother" of the siblings' story. Never getting involved with a man for more than one night, Lindsey has put walls up all around her because the two men in her life-her father and the love of her life, Finn-have never been trustworthy. Even when I wanted Lindsey to open up to Finn, I understood her reluctance and felt her pain. After lots of back and forth, I was ready for their resolution. With some humor, major swoon and super sexy times, Finn plays to win and he wants to win back Lindsey.

What Others Are Saying About Taylor Lavati

"One for readers at the older end of the 'young adult' spectrum, The Thousand Year Curse is clearly the work of a gifted young writer. The plot and the basic premise have already been spelled out by other reviewers but what struck me most about the book was the deft and surprisingly mature touch of the author." Jay G

"I fell in love with Taylor's writing when I read the first book in her Curse Books. When I opened this book I wasn't positive what would be waiting on the other side for me, but I was certain it would be a reading adventure. Taylor didn't disappoint." Bestselling author Jesse Kimmel-Freeman
