Blurb

It started out like any other morning on the train.

Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.

He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.

Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?

Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.

When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left. So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.

I might have picked it up.

I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.

I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days—until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.

When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.

So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.

I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.

I didn’t expect him to text back.

I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.

I didn’t expect to fall for him—all before we even met.

The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.

Yet, you know what they say about opposites.

When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract—we consumed each other.

Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

Excerpt

Graham: What are you wearing, Soraya?

Soraya: Are you serious right now?

Graham: You ruined my day. You owe me.

Soraya: I don’t owe you anything, you fucking perv.

Graham: This from the woman who sent me a shot of her cleavage. Nice tits, by the way. They’re so big, at first, I thought it was a picture of an ass.

Soraya: You’re the ass.

Graham: Show me your face.

Soraya: Why?

Graham: Because I want to see if it matches your personality.

Soraya: Which would mean what?

Graham: Well, that wouldn’t bode well for you.

Soraya: You won’t ever see my face.

Graham: Probably better off. So, give me a hint about what you’re wearing.

Soraya: It’s red.

Graham: So you haven’t changed out of that dress?

Soraya: No, I’m naked with dye dripping down my body and my tongue is throbbing thanks to you.

That was an odd thing to say.

Graham: That’s an interesting visual.

Soraya: You are seriously crazy, dude.

Graham: I AM a little crazy, actually. I probably need my head checked because I’ve been fantasizing about a headless person all day.

Soraya: Well, the naked pic ain’t gonna happen.

Graham: How about I go first?

My Review

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are pure genius together. They have written literary gold not once with Cocky Bastard, but twice with their follow up standalone Stuck-Up Suit. There was not one thing I didn't LOVE about this book. It was hilarious, steamy, witty, twisty and swoon-worthy. I fell in love with Soraya from the very first page and with Graham soon after. They were perfectly different and watching Graham meet his match in Soraya was a sight to behold. I have a huge cheesy grin on my face while writing this and I finished the book a week ago. It will definitely be one that I reread and it goes straight to my favorites list.

Soraya is an assistant to the advice columnist Dear Ida. While her advice is usually the sarcastic and blunt opposite of Ida's, she stays at her dreary day job to make ends meet. One day on the train into work, she runs into a guy who looks wholly out of place in his designer outfit and air of superiority. After a brief interaction with him, it's obvious that guy is a first class rich prick. But when said rich prick drops his phone, Soraya picks it up with the intention of returning it. But first she has to snoop a little (okay a lot) to find out who he is. Two days later after interfering just a bit in his life, she returns the phone to find that he's even jerkier than she thought. Leaving him with a parting gift on his phone, she never expects to hear from him again.

Graham has built his own empire and does his best to keep people at arms length with a demanding and oftentimes cruel attitude. He's been broken twice and he refuses to let anyone close enough to have that happen again. But after listening to Soraya blast his terrible personality (something no one has ever done before) and seeing her parting gift, he can't get the firecracker out of his head. Things, especially women, come easily to Graham but Soraya makes him work for it and he finds himself completely enchanted.

From page one to the very last word, I was as spellbound with Graham and Soraya and they were with each other. Their struggle to hold their independence but realizing just how much they wanted and needed each other left for delicious banter and witty repartee. I smiled and laughed my way through their getting-to-know-you's and their putting-you-in-your-place's. They were complete opposites in most ways but it just worked beautifully. But just like with any work from Vi and Penelope, the unexpected happened and the feels hit me right in the chest. As the story progressed, it all felt real and completely honest which made me fall in love with them and their characters that much more.

I could not have asked for a better story from these two. We even got a glimpse from the characters in Cocky Bastard which left me laughing and smiling like a lunatic. The bit of angst, the true love story and the gorgeous ending made this maybe the best book I've read from either of these two ladies to date and I am so excited to see what they come up with next.
