Riot Street by Tyler King
Release Date: April 30th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Sometimes, getting in too deep is the only way to survive . . .

As darkly charismatic as he is unpredictable, Ethan Ash knows me better than I know myself. He's spent years unraveling the family scandal I've tried desperately to escape. I once thought that made us adversaries. Now he's the closest ally I have left.

Ethan's both the chaos around me and the deep, calm center where I feel safe. People warn me about him, tell me he's dangerous. Don't fall for him. But it's too late. Because I can't tell where my addiction ends . . . and his obsession begins.

My Review

Riot Street is a complex story that weaves in and out of both main character's lives. Avery and Ethan have a tie that binds them which slowly entwines them closer together as their story unfolds. The unpredictability of their romance had me curious to see their connection and as each aspect of their relationship opened up, I was unable to put this down.

Avery is an aspiring journalist. Ethan is established in the publishing world. The connection? Avery's father. Ethan wrote a best seller on Avery's life as a young girl and now has opened doors to her that she probably wouldn't have otherwise been able to afford. But she's wary of Ethan. He knows her whole story and she's afraid he may actually know more about her life than she even remembers herself. But as she begins to work with him, his personality draws her further into his world even when people warn her against it. But neither is without a complicated history. As Avery's life starts to revolve more around Ethan, she realizes that they may have an addiction to each other that's hard to separate.

The first half of this book was spellbinding. I was enthralled with their history and connection and so curious to find out more. Avery was strong even with all her broken pieces and Ethan was a mystery. The writing, too, was masterful. Ms. King has only gotten better in her second book even while her first was very well done. I loved delving into Avery's life. She was a fascinating heroine that had depth and strength that I admired. As the story progressed, I did wish I would have gotten to more about Ethan. I felt like this character was too secondary to Avery. I would have loved a more in depth look at him and all his connections to Avery. That said this story kept me fascinated and it was pretty unputdownable. I seriously enjoy Tyler's writing and her unique stories and I can most definitely say that I am a big fan.
