A scorching workplace romance proves hazardous in this new stand-alone from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Brent.

As a project manager at a successful construction firm, Audrey Gordon is used to grueling eighty-hour workweeks. That’s what it takes to be the best in this business.

But what happens when Audrey is assigned to the biggest project in the city?

She’s forced to team up with former lover and office rival Jason Roma.

Not only is Jason as cocky and hot-wired as ever, he still manages to get under Audrey’s skin in ways she has spent years trying to forget.
Yet Jason is determined to rekindle the past.

And this time the lines between work and passion might be permanently blurred.

I loved Fired book 1 in this series but i really think this one outdid it!!

Audrey is a driven career girl. She's usually the only woman on construction sites while she project manages. She has to prove herself time and time again. A huge opportunity comes to the firm she works for and she thinks she has it in the bag until someone, a certain sexy someone, a certain someone Audrey has a past with gets in the way.

Jason is a player. He never has girlfriends ever. He's now older and when a chance to work with an old buddy comes along he relishes it. He knows he can wind her up with a wink of his eye but that's not all he wants. He wants more pretty much from the start but is happy to take what she'll give him. He never forgot her and he knows she's hot but it's more than that. He sees how determined and strong she is.

After a truce is called will Audrey let herself go and risk all her hard work?

Bleeding loved it!!! This isn't an all action story but what it does is delve quite deep i think into Audrey's life. It's pretty much her tale to tell and i was hooked and intrigued. I found it riveting, all her thoughts and struggles, i was cheering her on to succeed and show everyone how good she was! I wanted her to come out on top!

After reading about Jason in Fired i was almost certain he'd be a bit of a player even if Audrey was in the picture but he was total opposite! I think seeing his best friend happy with a girl made him think about his own life. I was heartbroken for his past. The stuff with his dad was quite difficult to read i felt. My heart literally squeezed in my chest. But despite that he really was an incredible guy. So patient and so charming i swooned over him! I really think Audrey put him through the ringer a bit but he hung on in there seeing what others failed to see.

Audrey was such a complex person. Her struggles through most of her life from her youth till early adulthood made me feel really sorry for her. Thank goodness for her wonderful brother! Honestly i could have shook her mom and dad! I loved reading her struggles though, she fought so hard to redeem herself and to make a real go of a successful life it killed me when she was afraid to let go for fear of sliding back into bad habits. Luckily she came to her senses and saw what she could have and that she could let go with Jason and he's be there to catch her! awwwwwww!!!

They were pretty hot and steamy together but it was written so well that wasn't all you saw. There was definitely more in each encounter that your heart pitter patters in anticipation of them spitting out what they felt for one another!

I love this authors writing style. Its not like her usual books which can be quite angsty and a touch dark. This deals with some serious subjects but it's not as heavy i guess. More of a lighter read and really quite sweet. The plot kept me with them all the way. I wanted them together so badly there really was no choice but to go along for the ride.

Loved catching up with Melanie and Dominic too!!! Great to see them doing so well. I'm really really really hoping William gets a HEA because he needs it!!!! Please write him Cora!! You can't leave him where he is!

Highly recommend this amazing enemies to lovers/second chance romance. Lots to love. Lots to get stuck into and just a brilliant love story.

Cora Brent was born in a cold climate and escaped as soon as it was legally possible. Now, she lives in the desert with her husband, two kids and a prickly pear cactus she has affectionately named ‘Spot’. Cora’s closet is filled with boxes of unfinished stories that date back her 1980’s childhood and all her life she has dreamed of being an author. Amazingly, she is now a New York Times and USA Today bestselling writer of contemporary romance and begs not to be awakened from this dream.
